I grew up your typical Midwestern, country girl in a small, idyllic agricultural community of 700 people in North East, Nebraska. As the second oldest, I was raised helping out on my family’s farm alongside two sisters, Michelle and Kelli, and brother, Steve. We were always an active family growing up so outside of the normal sibling rivalry and farm chores, I stayed busy playing sports.
As a kid, I was inherently athletic and fiercely competitive so I often bested the boys in my class in most activities. In high school I was a multi-sport athlete and a standout in volleyball and track. I received several offers to run track in college, but instead accepted a scholarship to play volleyball for the University of Nebraska at Omaha. After four years of college ball, I graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.
In 2008, almost a year and a half after graduating and leaving competitive sports behind, I was convinced by my boyfriend (now husband) to give CrossFit a try. My first workout was nothing short of unforgettable. Quickly told, it involved deadlifts and box jumps and I was unable to finish the workout. I even scaled the weights and movements as many that are new to CrossFit often do. Despite the outcome of that first WOD (workout of the day), it didn’t take long before I was hooked and I’ve honestly never looked back.
Five years later, in October of 2013, my competitive fire exploded and I left my corporate job behind to pursue my passion: becoming a full-time CrossFit athlete. It was the best decision of my life as every day I feel blessed to have found CrossFit and the amazing CrossFit community.
Outside of training, coaching, and running a business, you’ll find me hanging with my husband, Dustin, and my 70 pound Double-Doodle pup, Louden. If the sun is shining, you’ll most likely find me outside being active, sunbathing, grilling, or relaxing with some friends at the lake.
As a 7x CrossFit Games Competitor my goals have always remained constant – I want to compete at the highest level possible and have fun doing it, all while continuing to be a positive force in the CrossFit community. As long as I can still make an impact in CrossFit I want to hold myself to the highest standards possible and always lead by example.
I want to motivate women and men alike to be a better version of themselves. I want to inspire others to appreciate their efforts as CrossFit athletes and most of all, embrace the outcome of their hard work. I encourage everybody that comes in contact with CrossFit to take pride in their labors and enjoy the journey to health and fitness.
For me it comes down to one thing: “How do you want to be remembered?” When it’s all said and done I want to be remembered as a talented athlete that wholeheartedly cherished the CrossFit lifestyle and the entire CrossFit community. I am determined to leave my mark on the sport, always striving to embody the CrossFit spirit. Ultimately, I want to redefine strength as beauty. #StrengthIsBooty #BootyIsStrength
